I know this is being hard, but more than ever these days all of us are playing an important role on defeating this virus. If you are health worker, working in essential jobs, you are doing a very important job.

But if you are simply staying at home, you are also saving lives as well.

That is why we can take this tough time to realise how important is our role in society, despite what we might think about ourselves.
When this tremendous crisis leaves us alone, remember that. We must go out of this together, with a bigger conscience about the importance of preserving natural environment, our planet, and the people living on it.

About the photographer: I am Núria, a journalist from Barcelona. These days, I work making reports for international media. But when it's possible, I try to develop them from home, not risking me or anybody around me. I live with a 84 year-old flatmate, who spends these days writing a book about her trips through Latin America. She stays always at home, but she knows she is essential.


I am also reading books and preparing future projects.

From my small room in Barcelona, I had the idea of doing this project titled Essential because I feel all of us are playing an important role these days, as a propagation stopping chains, or all the opposite.. I aim at people to be more responsible than ever and not risk their lives or lives of the others around them.
